Flexibility in perfection – the new Vecoplan VTH generation

Vecoplan celebrated the birth of its new generation of drum chippers at this year’s LIGNA, presenting the new VTH 160 and VTH 260 chipper series at the fair. These powerful models cover the entire previous performance range of all Vecoplan drum chippers with an intake height of up to 260 mm. Technically optimised and completely redesigned, the two modular models impress users with their excellent accessibility for operators and service personnel.

Vecoplan VTH drum chippers are usually involved wherever sawmill residue is processed into wood chippings: Throughout the world, they reliably process all types of residual wood into wood chips of the required quality. Vecoplan developed the latest VTH 160 and VTH 260 series with an increased focus on efficiency and digital development. The company recently launched the series in a completely new design under the motto “The E-volution of Performance. Strong machines. Smart future”, which clearly showcases the combination of robustness, optimised technology and new, digital data acquisition.

Flexible configuration in a new guise

“For us, it was important that the new drum chippers retained the proven functions of our previous VTH series. Changing knives, for example, remains as easy as ever. The new design also makes it much easier to replace wearing parts,” explains Kersten Beib, Director of Sales in Vecoplan’s Wood/Biomass division. “At the same time, we also want to enable our customers to configure the machine much more flexibly.” The VTH 160 and VTH 260 are available in S, M, L, XL and XXL intake widths, so the machines can be precisely tailored to specific customer requirements. The entire cutting unit can be selected to suit the application and can even be replaced at a later date if required. Users also have a lot of flexibility available when it comes to material feed, which takes place horizontally, either via a vibrating conveyor or a feed belt. The standardised machine stands make connection easy and offer the customer even more options. The new chippers are also characterised by the usual fast replacement of cutting tools.

Smart change at the touch of a button

In future, Vecoplan will also be supplementing the technical flexibility of the new VTH series machines with the Vecoplan Smart Centre (VSC) . The VSC.connect digital solution enables real-time monitoring of all operating data, such as material flow, plant utilisation and preventive maintenance requirements. Continuous data acquisition enables users to analyse operating data on an ongoing basis. The VSC also offers a remote service function that provides digital support for troubleshooting. Vecoplan service personnel can also use the VSC to connect to the customer’s machine online via secure remote access. This allows problems to be identified and rectified quickly, reducing downtime to a minimum and saving time, costs and resources. Yet another function is the “parameters” setting. This allows various programmes and input materials to be set at the touch of a button and the desired output to be predefined and called up immediately, enabling users to customise the end product easily using software.
