Energy-efficient and low-CO2 shredding

General Industries Germany relies on Vecoplan shredders for recycling

At its Eschwege site, the 30-year-old company recycles challenging post-consumer and post-industrial waste in the form of start-up lumps and stamping waste. Around 50 employees work at several sites.

Requirements

GID invested more than €2.5 million in recycling technology at its Eschwege site and expanded the facility. As the existing shredder had problems with nets, ropes and film, the company was looking for a new shredder that could better cope with these challenges. Vecoplan was considered as a possible supplier.

Solution

After the first contact at IFAT 2022, Matthias Henning (Managing Director of GID GmbH) explained his requirements. We supplied a VIZ 1700 and a VIZ 1300 shredder for the two extruder lines so that the difficult waste could be shredded in the future, while at the same time reducing electricity costs and CO2 emissions.

Result

GID uses Vecoplan shredding technology to process packaging waste, stretch film, rope and other waste that has been baled. The VIZ 1700 and smaller VIZ 1300 shred these materials efficiently, while a flat belt conveyor transports the material to the extruders. This has enabled GID to reduce energy costs, increase productivity and process a wider range of materials.
