40 % higher chipping efficiency! Vecoplan will present a biomass chipper with HiTorc power

Vecoplan, one of the leading suppliers of machines and systems for wood and biomass processing, will present a chipper with a HiTorc drive for the first time at this year’s LIGNA in Hanover – a first in the wood processing industry. The company will also be presenting its optimised, modular version of the tried-and-tested VTH drum chipper series in a new machine design. In Hall 25, Stand F66, Vecoplan will showcase a total of four machines at the world’s leading trade fair for wood processing.

The innovative HiTorc drive with its high throughput, maximum system availability and low energy consumption is now being used in a chipper for the first time. Vecoplan will be presenting the new VTH 600-1050 BT HiTorc chipper at LIGNA. This biomass chipper with HiTorc drive offers a number of advantages that make it particularly suitable for use in large wood-processing companies and sawmills. The HiTorc drive is hugely efficient, especially in the partial load range. When idling, it requires only around ten percent of the energy of a comparable, directly switched asynchronous motor. This is a decisive advantage in the case of uneven material feeding, which is commonplace in many companies. Overall, energy savings of up to 40 percent can be achieved compared to conventional electromechanical drives. “With the HiTorc drive, we offer a technology that reduces energy requirements and maintenance costs, since this purely electric solution eliminates components such as clutches, belt drives and flywheels,” explains Philipp Kasper, Director of Industrial Shredding at Vecoplan. “No other manufacturer in the wood processing industry offers these advantages in this form.”

The next VTH generation in a new design
In addition to the new product in the HiTorc chipper range, the LIGNA trade fair will also see Vecoplan presenting a pioneering further development of the proven VTH drum chipper series. In future, the two new VTH 160 and VTH 260 series will cover the entire range of applications for chippers up to an intake height of 260 mm. Both models have not only been technically optimised, they’ve also been given a completely revised, modern machine design. This has greatly improved the already efficient material flow and also offers much easier accessibility for operators and service personnel. Both models retain the familiar functions of the VTH series but allow a much more flexible configuration. The rotor, screen and counter knives can be individually adapted to suit operator requirements. Users also benefit from digital service options – the new VTH generation can be optionally equipped with the Vecoplan Smart Center (VSC). Additional services such as Remote Service are available online via the VSC. The VTH 160 and VTH 260 will be presented for the first time at LIGNA in their new designs and with all their new features.
