People in the recycling industry tend to know each other. This also applies to the two companies Vecoplan and Pla.to, which have been working together for many years and have implemented numerous joint projects. Pla.to has now emerged from the previous strategic partnership as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vecoplan AG. “Thanks to this takeover, we’re now in a position to offer our customers a complete process portfolio in plastics recycling, from conveyor technology to shredding and the cleaning process,” explains Martina Schmidt, Senior Vice President Recycling at Vecoplan. “In recent years, dry cleaning has developed from an initial step to become the core product of a modern cleaning process. By integrating Pla.to, we can now play an active role in shaping this development.” In dry cleaning, impurities are removed using a mechanical process without the need to use large quantities of water. The result is extrudable flakes that can be processed immediately, so it’s not surprising that the resource-saving dry cleaning process is becoming increasingly important. In addition to this process, Pla.to also covers the complete repertoire of state-of-the-art washing technology. The cleaning specialist’s portfolio also includes wet cleaning with friction and intensive scrubbers. Vecoplan first tests the different materials in its in-house “Cleanikum” in Neunkhausen, enabling the company to respond to the individual requirements of each customer. Various processes, settings and system technologies can be tested there under real conditions, so the best possible cleaning solution can be determined for each batch. The Cleanikum therefore offers maximum quality assurance before the cleaning systems go into operation at the customer’s premises.
Vecoplan as a full-service provider in plastics recycling
The location of the new Vecoplan subsidiary Pla.to will remain in Görlitz. Thanks to the acquisition of this company, customers will benefit from international project management, a comprehensive service concept and the digital solutions from both companies. The takeover will also strengthen the innovative power of both companies. New, larger series of dry cleaning systems will be added to the portfolio in the future. Vecoplan will present the largest dry cleaner ever manufactured by Pla.to for the first time at the K trade fair in Düsseldorf. “We’re delighted about the great synergies that will result from this joint step,” says Heinz Schnettler, Managing Director of Pla.to Technology. “We want to grow; we want to open up international markets together and prove that one plus one can definitely add up to more than two! Together, with the strength of Vecoplan and our proven product quality, we’ll invest even more in innovation and market presence.” With Pla.to as its subsidiary, Vecoplan AG is consolidating its position as a full-service provider in the field of plastics recycling and setting an important milestone for future growth strategies.
