Efficient, high-quality cleaning of post-consumer plastics is rapidly gaining importance. Dry cleaning, in particular, is increasingly becoming a key element of modern, sustainable cleaning concepts. The environmentally friendly method produces flakes suitable for extrusion which, depending on the application, can be processed further directly. In this way, dry cleaning creates important prerequisites for stable downstream steps and consistently high material quality. At PRS Europe, Vecoplan will be presenting practical ways of integrating this process step into overarching plant concepts for plastics recycling together with its subsidiary Pla.to, a specialist in dry cleaning and washing technology.
Cleaning technology designed as a complete solution
By integrating Pla.to, Vecoplan has strategically expanded its offering in plastics recycling. The company can now incorporate cleaning technologies even more comprehensively into its processing solutions and support customers from shredding through to the cleaning stage. Alongside dry cleaning, Vecoplan’s portfolio also includes a range of wet cleaning processes, such as friction washers and mechanical dryers. This enables Vecoplan to meet a wide variety of requirements in the processing of plastic streams and to integrate tailored cleaning solutions into higher-level process concepts. “Our priority is to find the right cleaning solution for each material stream,” explains Daniel Wienand, Head of Sales Europe at Vecoplan. “That’s why we test different materials under real-world conditions in our in-house ‘Cleanikum’ and determine which method and configuration best suits the specific application. This allows us to support customers in integrating cleaning technology sensibly into their overall process.”
At stand B98, Vecoplan will use real application examples to show how dry and wet cleaning can be tailored to different material streams and process requirements. The focus is not only on individual machines, but on how the process steps work together, from system design through to integration into the overall plant.
