Vecoplan: Pre-crusher shreds different types of wood waste for energy recovery

He simply gets everything small

With the VVB, Vecoplan has developed a primary crusher that shreds all wood waste for energy recovery very efficiently with the flywheel mass of its rotor. It has a robust design, is almost completely resistant to contaminants and achieves high throughput rates. The operator receives an extremely reliable machine with high availability.

The robust powerhouse impresses with the enormous flywheel mass of its all-steel rotor. It can break all wood materials such as fresh bark with a water content of up to 60 per cent, logs with a diameter of up to 400 millimetres and cross-cuts with a diameter of up to 1,000 millimetres. Operators can also process roots, stumps, residues from the log yard, sawdust and short wood waste as well as pre-broken pallets and demolition wood. The shredding tools are arranged in an M-shape on the rotor. This ensures smooth running behaviour. Despite the large flywheel mass, the rotor comes to a standstill in less than five minutes. Depending on the configuration, the machine can produce fuel in particle sizes from P45 to P100 in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17225.

Vecoplan has designed the VVB for large throughput volumes. If required, the experts can customise the machine to the individual application. For example, different moulds are possible depending on the application. These can be used on both sides and can be partially changed. This reduces costs for the operator. Vecoplan has designed the primary crusher with a pivoting counter-blade and screen unit secured by shear bolts so that up to two per cent of impurities cannot damage it. Once the impurities have been removed, the counter-blade and screen unit return to their operating position. The new VVB is used in wood recycling, biomass cogeneration plants and the energy industry, among other applications.

Ergonomic maintenance

The machine is equipped with a cover to minimise dust emissions during the shredding process. The technician can remove this in a few simple steps before carrying out service work. A bonnet that opens downwards allows quick access to the rotor. A maintenance platform is also integrated into the bonnet. Service work can therefore be carried out conveniently and safely. A rotation angle sensor ensures optimum lifting, lowering and damping of the upper feed roller, adapted to the input material. The upper feed roller is driven internally. Both its lubrication and temperature monitoring are automatic.

 Powerful digitalisation

The VVB primary crusher can be connected to the Vecoplan Smart Center (VSC). With VSC.connect, this user-friendly digitalisation concept offers a modern communication interface between Vecoplan and the customer's system. The user can access services such as online commissioning, remote service, KPIs or a media database. The modern VSC.control operating panel serves as a communication medium for controlling the VVB. The operator can intuitively adjust machine parameters and recipe storage. They receive an overview of individual actual values and current messages, including a message history. The VSC can be used on all common mobile end devices.
