Vecoplan Hotspot Monitoring

Detecting thermal anomalies at an early stage

Smart hotspot monitoring for greater safety in recycling plants

Identify potential risks at an earlier stage and lay a solid foundation for swift, targeted action.

Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, batteries and e-cigarettes in the waste stream can reach critical temperatures unnoticed during the recycling process. If rechargeable batteries are damaged, this can lead to short circuits and excessive heating – often before smoke or flames become visible.

With its intelligent hotspot monitoring system, Vecoplan offers a solution for the continuous thermal monitoring of specific areas of a plant. The combination of a thermal imaging camera, visual camera footage and AI-supported image recognition helps to detect unusual temperature trends at an early stage and assess them within the context of the plant in question.

The benefits of Vecoplan Hotspot Monitoring at a glance

1
Area-wide temperature monitoring: A better overview of relevant areas of the plant.
2
AI-assisted analysis of thermal anomalies: measuring temperatures and identifying correlations.
3
Thermal image and visual camera image: Interpret thermal anomalies and take appropriate action.
4
Continuous monitoring: Keeping an eye on critical developments at an early stage.
5
Flexible integration/retrofitting and integration into the Vecoplan Smart Centre

The benefits of Vecoplan Hotspot Monitoring in detail

Area-wide temperature monitoring

A better overview of relevant areas of the plant.

The thermal imaging camera monitors defined zones rather than just individual measurement points. This allows, for example, conveyor belts, material flows, hoppers, stockpiles and selected machine areas to be monitored.

AI-assisted assessment of thermal anomalies

Measuring temperatures and identifying correlations.

Not every rise in temperature indicates a hazard. AI-powered image recognition supports the context-based assessment of thermal anomalies and helps to distinguish between expected heat sources and potentially critical events.

Thermal image and visual camera image

Assess thermal anomalies directly.

The bispectral camera combines temperature data with a visual image of the monitored area. In the event of an alarm, this enables the plant operator to assess the situation more effectively and take the next steps in a more targeted manner.

Continuous monitoring

Identifying critical developments at an early stage.

The system continuously monitors the configured areas. If the specified temperature limits are exceeded, an alarm is triggered so that unusual developments can be investigated promptly.

Integration into the Vecoplan Smart Centre

Digital monitoring as part of the plant control system.

Hotspot Monitoring can be integrated into the Vecoplan Smart Centre (VSC). Temperature data and alarms are processed centrally. The camera system remains operational even in the event of an internet outage.

Flexible integration and retrofitting

Tailored to your system and your requirements.

The camera solution can be adapted to different surveillance areas and can generally also be integrated into existing systems. The most suitable configuration depends on the process and individual requirements.

How does intelligent hotspot monitoring work?

The system combines thermal measurement technology with visual information and AI-supported analysis. This means that temperature events are not viewed in isolation, but can be assessed in the context of the relevant area of the plant.

Where can hotspot monitoring be used?

Thermal monitoring can be useful at various points within a recycling plant. The relevant material flows, process conditions and safety-critical areas are decisive.

Possible areas of application include:

  • Conveyor belts and material flows: Detecting temperature anomalies during material transport.
  • Material silos: Monitoring critical thermal changes in defined storage and transfer areas.
  • Stockpiles: Record unusual temperature trends in selected material areas.
  • Material deliveries: Assess temperature events in the delivery and feeding areas.
  • Machinery areas: Thermally monitor specific machine parts and defined process zones.
  • Other plant areas: Customised monitoring
