Thomas Sturm

In May 2017 Vecoplan® AG, headquartered in Bad Marienberg, Westerwald, appointed Thomas Sturm as Chief Operating Officer (COO), thus enlarging its management team. In this newly created position the 54-year-old will be responsible for production, quality assurance, purchasing, development, assembly and electrical engineering.

Vecoplan® AG will continue to be headed by Werner Berens (CEO). In addition to Thomas Sturm and Michael Lambert, who was named CFO in January 2014, the expanded management team includes the heads of the company’s three divisions: Dirk Müller (Wood | Biomass), Stefan Kaiser (Recycling | Waste) and Markus Claudy (Service | Parts).

By bringing Thomas Sturm on board, the manufacturer of machines and components for shredding primary and secondary raw materials in production and recycling has gained an experienced professional. The mechanical engineer already worked for Vecoplan® from 1992 to 2009. He then moved to a management position in a company specializing in the design, construction and manufacture of complex lightweight structures and later served as COO for a developer and manufacturer of custom-made assemblies for civil aviation. “By creating this position we are demonstrating a clear commitment to growth,” says CEO Werner Berens. “That’s because a great deal is expected of us in terms of strengthening our leading position by developing new products, streamlining our processes and improving our cost efficiency. We are very happy that Thomas Sturm has returned to our company. With his extensive experience he will make a major contribution to our success.”

Vecoplan AG is a leading manufacturer of machines and systems for the resources and recycling industry for shredding, conveying and reprocessing wood, biomass, plastics, paper and other recyclable materials such as domestic and industrial waste.
